All about the band...
SOULTRY is a four-piece country soul and rock ’n roll band made up of seasoned musicians with deep roots in live performance. Blending the grit of country, the heart of soul, and the swagger of classic rock ’n roll, SOULTRY delivers a powerful, feel-good live show built on groove, emotion, and storytelling. Their sound draws inspiration from the soulful country stylings of Chris Stapleton, the sultry grit of “Black Velvet”–era Alannah Myles, southern rock legends like The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and modern country artists with deep soul influences. The result is a danceable, crowd-pleasing mix that feels both familiar and fresh.
SOULTRY'S repertoire spans soulful ’80s and ’90s country classics, southern rock staples, blues-infused rock favorites, and modern country and country rock—delivered with a deep pocket and emotional punch that connects with audiences of all ages.
Lead Singer Kimberly Kay has been singing since childhood, discovering her passion in her church school choir. She has performed extensively throughout Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Clara counties as a country vocalist with her former bands, West of Nashville and Neon City Limits. Kimberly’s voice blends grit, soul, and raw emotion—drawing comparisons to artists like Chris Stapleton, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks and soulful country-rock vocalists. Her dynamic range, powerful delivery, and undeniable stage presence bring authenticity and heart to every performance.
Lead Guitarist Chris Olsen is a veteran guitarist with decades of professional experience, including years working in music publishing while performing in Nashville. His philosophy is simple: serve the song. Chris has performed in front of or shared the stage with artists such as Jerry Garcia, Little Big Town, Tommy Castro, Elvin Bishop, Lydia Pense & Cold Blood, Len Snow, and Jessica Hawthorne, and has worked with Nashville Hall of Fame producer Robert Metzger. His mastery of slide guitar—both acoustic and electric—draws from country, blues, soul, and rock traditions, evoking tones reminiscent of Derek Trucks, Duane Allman, and classic Nashville session players.
A lifelong BMI member, Chris has released two albums of original material and achieved notable success in Nashville, including a #1 Billboard Single Sales Chart hit, “Country’s What I Choose,” with Len Snow. He has enjoyed radio airplay, live radio performances, touring as a bandleader, and personal appearances, and has served as a regional judge for the nationwide Colgate Country Challenge. SOULTRY is proud to feature his soulful touch, tasteful restraint, and world-class musicianship.
